Snake recycled jeans draught excluder idea

IMG_20160404_130941122I finally got my trusty Lidl sewing machine out today to finish making a couple of pairs of old jeans into a draft excluder for the door through to our garage  (they’ve been sitting around for months waiting to be done).

So that it is easily washable – many wellies and filthy work boots will kick it over the weeks – I have made a removable cover and a hook fashioned from the snakes tongue so that it can be hung out of the way.

Just an idea to get your creativity flowing!!   I made mine square for maximum draught exclusion, but you could shape the head and tail if you wanted, or put a mono-brow above the eyes as one of my daughters wanted me to do!!

Christmas Jumpers on a serious budget

Our girls’ school upped the anti this year, and instead of just something Christmassy on their heads; antlers; hats or, as I saw today, a plucked turkey or Christmas pudding.   This year they were invited to wear a Christmas jumper as well.   I may well have been a little bit bah humbug, but when I saw the price of Christmas jumpers in various shops, I thought that I would adapt a jumper for each of them to make it Christmassy!

One wanted a robin on it, one a snowman, and one the baby Jesus in a manger.  Fun times and I was grateful for DK oddments,  a 4.5mm crochet hook and a little bit of creativity!

3D glasses made from Sweetie Wrappers and Lemon and Courgette Drizzle Cake Recipe

jazz handsOne of my husband’s customers gave us a box of wrapped Chocolate sweets(any guesses which ones) and rather than throwing the wrappers away, we kept them for a couple of days and made our very own 3D glasses today.  They might not actually work,  in fact I think that they impair vision slightly, but today they kept my girls quiet for ages making and decorating them!

I then made a quick cake this evening whilst the oven was on for making dinner, it’s another Lemon and Courgette Drizzle cake, but this one doesn’t have Yogurt in like the other.  Mainly because I didn’t have any yogurt in the fridge needing using up! lemon and courgette drizzle
